Every shoe on Kosmos carries a colour gradient bar showing where it is in its life — from deep green for brand new, through to red for a seasoned platform veteran. Here's exactly how we calculate it.

How we grade brand new shoes
Brand new submissions always start at 🟢 Mint. As the shoe is rented, the indicator moves right automatically — every 4–5 rentals typically shifts the grade one step. The rental count and condition are combined to place the dot precisely on the gradient.
How we grade pre-loved shoes
Pre-loved submissions are physically assessed by our authentication team. We inspect the upper material, sole wear, stitching, hardware and overall structure. We then place the shoe on the gradient at the point that honestly reflects its condition. From there, it moves with every rental — same as any shoe.
Not a perfect science. The Wear Life Indicator is an honest, transparent guide — not an absolute measurement. Every shoe is different. A well-cared-for pair rented 10 times may look better than a neglected pair rented twice. Our team uses real-world assessment alongside the rental count to place each shoe as fairly as possible. How Pricing Works

Rental rates are based on the shoe's original retail price (RRP) and adjust automatically as the wear grade changes. The older and more worn a shoe, the lower the rate — and the better the deal for you.

Exceptional — 98–100% pass rate
Passes every criterion perfectly. Typically brand new, deadstock or near-mint condition with original packaging or proof of purchase. The highest confidence level we assign.
A
Excellent — 93–97% pass rate
Passes all critical checks with only minor non-structural observations. Authenticity is beyond doubt. Typically lightly worn with no significant marks or defects.
B+
Very Good — 85–92% pass rate
Genuine pair with minor cosmetic observations noted — light sole wear, small marks, or non-original laces. Authenticity confirmed. Condition clearly reflected in the listing.
B
Good — 75–84% pass rate
Authentic but with visible signs of wear or minor structural observations. We fully disclose all findings in the listing. Still a solid choice at a lower price point.

In Transit — Both Directions
Shoes are covered for their full declared value from the moment they leave the owner's address, through our studio, and on their way to the customer — and back again. Loss or damage in transit is fully covered.

In Our Studio
While shoes are in our care for authentication or cleaning, they are insured against accidental damage, fire, theft or loss. We photograph every pair on arrival so the condition is on record from day one.

During a Rental
Normal wear during the rental period is expected and not charged. Insurance covers accidental damage beyond fair use — a scuff on a night out is expected, a snapped heel is a claim. We assess every return individually and fairly.

Owner Protection
If a renter returns shoes in a damaged state beyond fair wear, Kosmos covers the repair or replacement cost up to the shoe's declared value at listing. Compensation is paid to your connected Stripe account within 10 business days of the assessment.
What Is Not Covered
— Pre-existing damage that was disclosed at intake or visible in listing photos
— Intentional damage or misuse
— Normal cosmetic wear during a rental (light sole marks, minor creasing)
— Items that failed authentication and were not listed on the platform

Returns & Refunds

Our Returns Policy

We want every Kosmos experience to be right. Here's how we handle returns, late items and refunds.

Rental Returns
Return your rental within 24 hours of the agreed end date. A prepaid return label is included with every rental delivery. Shoes must be returned in the same condition they were received — fair wear during the rental period is expected and covered by our insurance.
Late Returns
Rentals returned more than 24 hours late will be charged an additional day at the standard daily rate. If you need an extension, please contact us before the return date and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Purchases
Purchased shoes may be returned within 14 days of delivery if they are unworn and in their original condition. Contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to initiate a return. Return postage is covered by Kosmos if the item is not as described.
Damaged or Incorrect Items
If shoes arrive damaged, soiled, or significantly different from the listing, contact us within 48 hours with photos. We will arrange collection and issue a full refund or send a replacement pair where available.
Cleaning Bookings
Cleaning bookings can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled collection slot for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of the slot are subject to a £5 cancellation fee to cover courier costs already incurred.
Listing Submissions
If your submitted shoes are rejected during authentication, they will be returned to your collection address within 5 business days. The £3.99 collection fee is non-refundable once the pair has been collected.
Refund Timescales
Approved refunds are processed within 5–7 business days back to your original payment method. You will receive an email confirmation when the refund has been issued.

Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Beautifully Ordered Ltd ("Kosmos", "we", "our") is a shoe rental, resale and donation platform registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17231554). For privacy questions contact privacy@beautifullyordered.co.uk.
2. Information We Collect
Account: Name, email and password when you register. Bank details if you request payouts (encrypted at rest).

Profile: Phone number, delivery address, shoe size and preferences you provide optionally.

Transactions: Order references, dates, amounts and delivery addresses for all rentals, purchases, submissions and donations.

Donations: Contact details and collection address to arrange pickup and send collection labels. Retained for charity reporting.

Device & Usage: Device type, OS version, IP address, app version and usage patterns to improve our service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to process orders, calculate payouts (85% per transaction), authenticate submitted shoes, arrange deliveries, send confirmations and collection labels, process cross-platform listings on eBay/Vinted/Depop, send charity impact reports, respond to support requests, improve our service, and comply with legal obligations. We never sell your data.
4. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)
Contract performance — to fulfil orders and submissions. Legitimate interests — to improve services and prevent fraud. Legal obligation — for financial regulations and charity reporting. Consent — for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Sharing Your Information
We share data with Stripe (payments), delivery carriers, email providers and cloud hosting — all bound by data processing agreements. For cross-platform listings, relevant shoe data is shared with eBay, Vinted or Depop. For donations, aggregated reports go to Soles4Souls UK (Reg. Charity No. 1157346). We may disclose data if required by law.
6. Data Retention
Account data: duration of account + 3 years. Transaction and donation records: 7 years (legal compliance). Support communications: 2 years. Marketing preferences: until consent withdrawn. On account deletion, data is anonymised within 30 days unless legally required.
7. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port your data, and to object to processing. Contact privacy@beautifullyordered.co.uk — we respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
8. Security
We use encryption for sensitive data, secure HTTPS connections, access controls and regular security reviews. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact privacy@beautifullyordered.co.uk immediately.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies for session management. We use minimal analytics to understand usage. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
10. Children's Privacy
Kosmos is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, contact privacy@beautifullyordered.co.uk and we will delete it.

Terms & Conditions

1. About Kosmos
Beautifully Ordered Ltd ("Kosmos") operates as an intermediary between shoe owners and customers who rent or buy shoes. We also facilitate charitable donations to Soles4Souls UK (Reg. Charity No. 1157346). All users have a single Kosmos account and may act as both Owner and Customer.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Kosmos. By creating an account you confirm this and that all information you provide is accurate. Kosmos reserves the right to refuse service or terminate accounts at our discretion.
3. Rentals
Minimum rental period is 7 days, charged at a daily rate based on the shoe's RRP and Wear Life grade. You must return shoes by the end of the rental period using the prepaid return label. Late returns incur the daily rate per additional day. You are liable for damage beyond normal wear.
4. Purchases
All sales are final once dispatched. Returns are only accepted if the item is materially different from its description. All shoes are authenticated and come with an authentication certificate. Buy prices are based on RRP and wear grade.
5. Owner Submissions
By submitting shoes you confirm you are the legal owner. All shoes are authenticated — we may reject any pair that fails authentication or doesn't meet our standards. Rejected shoes are returned within 5 business days.

Owners earn 85% of every rental or sale. Kosmos retains 15% for authentication, photography and management. Rental transactions include an £8 professional cleaning fee. Payouts are processed automatically via Stripe Connect after each completed transaction — typically arriving in your bank within 2–7 days.
6. Charitable Donations
By donating shoes you transfer ownership to Kosmos for charitable purposes. 100% of profits from donated shoes go to Soles4Souls UK. A £3.99 collection fee applies. Donated shoes that cannot be listed are given directly to Soles4Souls for distribution.
7. Prohibited Items
You may not submit counterfeit, replica or stolen shoes, or any items in an unsafe condition or that infringe third-party rights. Submission of counterfeit goods may result in account termination and referral to authorities.
8. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. All prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Kosmos does not store full payment card details.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kosmos shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
